HOW TO GET THE LOOK

1. APPLY THE BASE

The underwater vibes can be seen straight away as you reach for the Maybelline Color Tattoo Eye Stix in the turquoise shade I am Giving. The base layer of your mermaid eyeshadow look, apply this product by drawing one line along the crease of your eyelid and another diagonally up from the outer corner of your eyes, making sure the two lines meet underneath the eyebrows. Then with the aquatic blue Arctic Skies shade of the Maybelline Tattoo Studio Gel Pencil, trace the inside of these two lines for a pop of color and dimension. With either your fingers or a small eyeshadow brush, blend the two shades together so that they seamlessly melt into one another.

2. ADD A POP OF COLOR

To really make the blues and greens pop, why not bring a touch of pink to the party? With your Maybelline Color Tattoo Eye Stix in the shade I am Unique, trace your bottom lash line and buff the product into your skin using your fingers.

3. LET'S GET SHIMMERY

Now it’s time to give your lids a touch of sparkle with the Maybelline Color Tattoo Cream Eyeshadow in the shade Chill Girl and the shimmering beige shade from the Maybelline 26th and Madison Ave Shadow Blocks Eyeshadow Palette. Apply these eyeshadows over the entirety of your lids, on top of the matte eyeshadow on your upper lid and the pink eyeshadow on your lower lid. Then, along your waterline, apply a few layers of Maybelline Tattoo Studio Sharpenable Gel Pencil in the shade Polished White. Finish your mermaid eyeshadow look with a touch of Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High Mascara.

4. EMPHASIZE THOSE EYES

For this next trick, we’re taking inspiration from the ocean's most precious treasures. That’s right, gemstones and pearls! Ok, well, we know we can’t actually get them from the ocean, but, if you head to your local craft store and get some small pearls and ocean-inspired gems, then they are the perfect finishing touch for this look. To apply them, first look out some eyelash glue. Dab a little bit of glue on the underside of the pearls and very carefully stick them onto the area surrounding your eyes using a pair of tweezers. We also love to use some colored gems that match the eyeshadow colors you used. For a playful and colorful take on eyeliner, create a gem-studded wing effect that follows the traditional shape of cat-eye eyeliner.

5. LAYER YOUR LIPS

Bring the mermaid effect down to your lips by first applying a few layers of Maybelline Super Stay Ink Crayon Lipstick in a pinky-nude shade that complements the natural color of your lips. Then, for that iconic sea-shimmer, add some Maybelline Lifter Gloss in the shade Pearl on top.

6. LENGTHEN THOSE LASHES

Coat your lashes with a lengthening and volumizing mascara, wiggling the wand from the root to the tip for maximum impact. For extreme length, use an eyelash curler before applying your mascara followed by Maybelline The Falsies Surreal Extensions Waterproof Mascara. Don't forget the lower lashes; a few coats will open up your eyes, making them seem bigger and more awake… like you’ve just taken the first sip of your morning coffee.
